For CBT-1:

• Part B alone (80 of 120 questions) decides your selection, treat Food Laws, FSSAI functions, and the combined Processing/Chemistry/Microbiology block as your core, non-negotiable study zone.

• Part B – What to Focus On

  Two sections in Part B carry the most marks, so they need the most attention.

  1. Food Laws & FSSAI – 40 Marks
  This is the biggest section in Part B. Give it more study time than any other topic. It's worth the effort because it carries the most marks.

  2. Food Preservation, Processing, Packaging + Chemistry + Microbiology + Analysis – 40 Marks
  This also carries 40 marks, but it covers four different topics mixed together. Because it's so broad, it takes more time to cover properly, not just at the last minute.

• Don't neglect Part A , it's 40 easy, scorable marks if you keep up with current affairs and revise basic English/reasoning; skipping it to over-focus on Part B is a common mistake.
• With −1 negative marking, only attempt what you're reasonably sure of, blind guessing on 120 questions in 180 minutes can quickly erode a good Part B score.

For CBT-2 (once you clear CBT-1):

• This stage rewards precision over speed, the varied formats (fill-in-blanks, matching, comprehension, multiple-correct) test recall accuracy, not just recognition, so rote MCQ practice from CBT-1 isn't enough preparation here.
• Section 2 (Multiple correct option) has partial credit but also the harshest penalty (−2) — only select all options you're fully confident about; a single wrong option can cost more than an unattempted question.
• Sections 3, 4, and 6 (fill-in-blanks, matching) require you to recall exact terms, not just identify them from options — shift your revision method toward active recall (writing definitions, filling blanks yourself) instead of just reading notes.
• Since CBT-2 syllabus overlaps heavily with CBT-1's Part B, build one strong knowledge base for food laws, FSSAI systems, chemistry, and microbiology rather than treating the two stages as separate subjects  you're deepening the same foundation, not starting over.
• Use PYQs specifically for CBT-2's fill-in-the-blank and matching formats, since these formats are harder to self-generate practice for than standard MCQs.
