Syllabus and Exam Pattern
Here's the detailed expected syllabus for HPSC FSO 2026, section-wise. Until HPSC officially notifies the pattern (number of sections, marks per section, and whether General Awareness/Reasoning/Quant/English are even included, and in what weightage), it's more efficient to hold off on heavily investing time in these general sections and instead focus your preparation on the Subject Knowledge Test (Food Science & Safety) since that syllabus and its relevance are already clear regardless of how the general paper is eventually structured.

How to prepare
Start with the regulatory foundation first (Units 1 & 2). These two units form the backbone of the exam and are also the most "factual" and directly testable, so build this base before moving to the technical/scientific units.
For structured notes and practice on Unit 1 and Unit 2 specifically (FSS Act, FSSAI rules, licensing, Codex, WTO agreements, and FSSAI's role/functions/initiatives), you can check https://fsoinsider.com/ebooks — notes along with MCQs based on previous year questions (PYQs) are avialble, which is useful for testing recall on the regulatory portions before moving to the science heavy units.
For Units 3–5, you can go through these free source once, then write your own condensed notes.
